If you consume a lot of coffee or alcohol, you are likely to have dry and dehydrated skin and lips.

It is simple to whip up a lip balm at home, customized to your taste and requirements. A base of beeswax, or coconut oil, a flavor of choice, and a tint is all that is required for this perfect balm that can make lips feel super soft.


Coconut rose lip balm

Coconut oil 1/8 cup
Beeswax ¼ cup
Shea butter 1/8 cup
Coconut or vanilla extract 1 teaspoon
Rose petals ¼ cup
Almond oil 1 teaspoon

Put the ingredients in a small pan and heat on low until everything has melted. Alternatively, a microwave can be used to heat in 30 second intervals, or until melted. Strain petals, if necessary, and pour into a sanitized container. Let it cool for a couple of hours and now they are ready to use. It can be put in empty tubes and stored. A bit of tea tree oil can be added to this balm and this gives it tingly flavor along with antibacterial protection.


Honey lip balm

Shea butter 1 tablespoon
Honey, almond oil and olive oil 1 teaspoon each
Beeswax 1 teaspoon grated
Chocolate chips white 5
Vanilla extract 3-4 drops
Lip balm container

Combine the oils in a small bowl and add the extract. Melt the beeswax in a microwave safe bowl. Add chocolate chips and heat again until both are fully melted. Combine the beeswax and chocolate mixture with the oils and stir. Transfer to a clean container and wait for it to solidify.


Here are some DIY for dry chapped lips

Dry and chapped lips can make you appear shabby and unkempt. While going out during the day, apply some sun protection or petroleum jelly on your lips. While indoors, use some cocoa butter, which is an effective natural remedy for healthy pink lips.

Sugar is a great exfoliator. A regular lip care regimen can keep your pout fresh especially during the cooler months. By exfoliating with a natural scrub, slough off the top layer of the lip skin often left dry from the sun.

A paste of rose petals, honey and cucumber with 1 teaspoon of milk can be made into a paste and applied on your lips. The scrub helps remove dirt and dead skin cells and gives the lips a pinkish hue. Take a cotton ball and dip it in rosewater. Gently rub for removing darkness from lips.


Here is an easy scrub for dry lips.

Lavender Rosemary Sugar Scrub

Raw cane sugar 1 cup
Sea salt 1 cup
Coconut oil ½ cup
Lavender fresh or dried 2 tablespoon
Chopped Rosemary 2 tablespoon
Lavender oil 1 teaspoon
Almond oil 1 teaspoon

Add all ingredients into a container of choice. Add chopped rosemary and lavender. Mix together. The scrub is ready for use.


DIY tips for relieving dry chapped lips

Exfoliate or use a soft toothbrush to gently rub in circular motions against your lips to remove dry skin flakes. Use your favorite lip balm or equal amounts of honey, olive oil and gently rub against lips and wipe off with damp washcloth. Apply a soothing lip balm for relief.

It is essential to stay hydrated for beautiful and pink lips. Increase water intake and include a lot of fresh juices in your diet. It would keep lips healthy and soft.


Reviving lips on the run

Ingredients
